Project Overview

This project will construct a 1.8 mile Trail in Doylestown Township. This trail would serve the County-owned facilities along Easton and Almshouse Roads and would provide a connection between recreational, institutional and commercial facilities.

The trail is comprised of 3 segments:

Segment 1 – Barn Plaze Driveway to Almshouse Road (0.30 miles)

The asphalt trail would begin on the south side of the County facility driveway across from the Barn Plaza Driveway. The set of existing non-ADA compliant steps will be replaced with a gently sloping trail to reach the SEPTA Bus Stop. The trail will then be constructed southward parallel to Easton Road between Easton Road and the driveway to Grundy Hall. As the trail gets closer to Almshouse Road, the trail will run around the Health Department parking lot and switchback to parallel Almshouse Road to gain access to another SEPTA Bus Stop at the Easton Road/Almshouse Road intersection.

Segment 2 – Almshouse Road to Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home Driveway (0.25 miles)

The asphalt trail will add a new crosswalk on the western leg of the Easton Road/Almshouse Road intersection. The trail will then be constructed southward parallel to Easton Road between Almshouse Road and the driveway to Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home. The trail will run parallel to Easton Road to gain access to another SEPTA Bus Stop at the Easton Road/Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home driveway intersection. A new crosswalk will also be constructed on the south leg of the Easton Road/Almshouse Road intersection and will be connected to the existing sidewalk along Almshouse Road.

Segment 3 – Almshouse Road to Turk Park and King Park (1.35 miles)

The third segment of the trail will consist of a 1.35 mile trail along Almshouse Road into the Turk Park and King Park complex. The trail will begin at Easton Road and connect into Segment 2. After crossing a small drainage facility, the trail will provide access into park property. The new trail will replace several areas of crushed stone trail and replace it with an asphalt trail.
